Galiano Island Paradise Escape

Is it weird that we need an Island getaway from our Island home? Maybe. But until you’ve experienced the super chill vibe found on the Southern Gulf Islands surrounding Vancouver Island you won’t really understand what a difference there is. Life on the Islands is much slower and truly feels like a great escape, without having to travel very far at all.

If you are located on Vancouver Island and looking for a quick getaway to unplug from the hustle and bustle of the city, the Southern Gulf Islands are always an excellent choice. We discovered Galiano Island several years ago and have been returning again and again, each visit discovering new places and characteristics that make this place very unique. From it’s mountainous terrain to it’s ancient shell beaches, sandstone shores, relaxed Island vibe and colourful local characters, it’s a destination to put on your trip map for sure.

Getting There

Getting to Galiano Island is via BC Ferries from Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island or Twawwassen on the Lower Mainland. Be sure to head to the top deck of the ferry and keep an eye out for whales in Active Pass as you approach Sturdies Bay.
